Look for the birds

It's true that we're out in the country, a bit off the beaten track.You won't find any road signs pointing to our village.

To keep the property as private and calm as possible, there isn't even a sign on our main gate.

So when you get to Jonvilliers, slow down and look for the two brick gateposts that sit on either side of a driveway heading into the woods. On the lefthand gatepost there's this sign:

When you see the two pheasants, you'll know you're in the right place.

I can't recommend driving with a GPS navigation system enough. It makes French roads much less intimidating. And you can usually get one in your rental car for a nominal fee (make sure to ask for instructions before leaving the car rental parking lot).
