Things to do: Espace Rambouillet
Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 2:04PM | Tweet Just 15 minutes away from the house is Espace Rambouillet, a nature park in the Forest of Rambouillet. It’s a great place to go with kids. One of the main attractions is the Birds of Prey Center. April through November it’s open every day of the week. There are at least two, sometimes three shows a day. You can also go for walks in the woods in search of deer and wild boars. There’s even an elevated tree-top walk, if you’re not afraid of heights.
One of our sons’ best friends completed an internship there over the Easter break, and last Sunday I went to watch one of the falconry shows to see him work with the birds. Some fly fast and low, while others soar and swoop. There is everything from small owls to giant vultures. The nice thing is that arena isn’t not too big, so you really get to see the birds close up. A great way to spend a lazy afternoon.
